Christmas of 2016 is the year that I got my first MIDI key board. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a piano that connects to your computer so you can produce music using a software. Think of it like writing an essay and using Microsoft Word. Because I got this keyboard, I was introduced to a music software called Ableton live 9. For more than 2 years now, I have been making music and I can honestly say that I’m satisfied with my skill and I appreciate music at a deeper level.

But when you think about all the music we hear today, do you really know who makes the nice instrumental sound that you hear? I know everyone knows the singer because it is their song, but where is all the credit for the person who makes the song? I understand if someone wants to be a silent producer, but I know some producers who aren’t silent producers and struggle to get any credit.

When producers make music and the artist sings into the mic for a recording, the producer still has to edit the music, and it takes a lot of patience to be able to write, record, and edit a song. Majority of the time when singers record their singing it’s never perfect, therefore a lot of songs you hear these days go through a producer’s editing to be perfect.

One of my dreams is to work for a music production label or to own one of my own music production labels. I would be able to sit down for days and just make music for people or myself because it is an interest to me and I have enough patience for it. In most cases, I will even be listening to the same beat for four hours, and tweaking it along the way.

If you really want to be more successful, you would want the singer or performer to show everyone who produced the music so other people will want to come to you for your production, but that isn’t always the case.

Just like DJ Khalid and Marshmello being so famous, people know that they own many of their songs. It should be like that for many other producers and not have all the fame go to the singers. I guess at the same time, the singer is advertising your music production, but sometimes I will look up who produces the song but there is usually never an answer.
