- Focusing on the present
- Reducing negative emotion
- Increasing patience and tolerance
- Increasing imagination and creativity
The first step to meditation is to focus your attention. Focusing your attention may be one of, if not the most important step to meditation. Focusing helps free the mind of all the distractions that are causing your stress. You can focus your attention on such things as a specific object, an image, or even your breathing. Step two, relax your breathing – the purpose of this is too slow your breathing. Take in the oxygen and reduce the levels of movement when you breath. Also when you are meditating you want to make sure you are in a quiet setting, it will be easier to focus with less distractions. Step three, be in a comfortable position, you can practice meditation whether you’re sitting, lying down, walking, or in other positions or activities. Just try to be comfortable so that you can get the most out of your meditation. And the last step, have an open mind, let thoughts pass through your mind without judgment. So if you are feeling over stressed and you’re lost, just take a few minutes from your day and try it. Meditations could be your escape from everything. You never know till you try.

Good stuff here. I like to practice a form of “walking meditation” when walking through the halls during passing period. I focus on each step and feel all my toes touching the floor as I walk instead of mindlessly moving from one room to another.
