Trump Seeking to End Birthright Citizenship

President Donald Trump is planning to sign an executive order that would remove all rights of citizenship to all babies whose parents are non-citizens or unauthorized immigrants not born in the US.
He wants to change one of the US Constitution laws, which has been in effect since 1868. “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”
The American Civil Liberties Union does not approve of Trump’s plan.
Omar Jadwat, director of ACLU’s Immigrants’ Right Project said, “The President cannot erase the Constitution with an executive order, and the 14th Amendment’s citizenship guarantee is clear. This is a transparent and blatantly unconstitutional attempt to sow division and fan the flames of anti-immigrant hatred in the days ahead of the midterms.”
Trump has not given information about when he will sign the order. We don’t know if President Trump will follow through on his threat on immigrants. Even though Trump has not given any further information about his plan, but he did say “It’s in the process. It’ll happen.”
Trump has also said, “It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don’t. You can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they’re saying I can do it just with an executive order,” Trump said.
