On Saturday March 24th, thousands of people from around Arizona gathered at Jacome Plaza in downtown Tucson to participate in the national March For Our Lives Movement protesting gun violence around the United States. This movement was kick-started by the February 14th school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida.

The protesters walked from Jacome Plaza to the University of Arizona, where a number of students and former Arizona Representative Ron Barber spoke passionately about the issue of gun violence, especially regarding minors, in America.

The march toward the U of A was not a quiet protest. As the crowds walked through the streets, they chanted numerous slogans, “We call BS” and “Hey hey, ho ho, the NRA has got to go,” and passersby stood in awe at the organization of the crowd and the general cohesion of the event. From small children, to the elderly, every demographic was represented in this massive group of like-minded people, and in this crowd, people from all walks of life gathered to spread their message that the American people will be heard, and that there needs to be change.
