Activities To Do Over Rodeo Break
February 14, 2018
Rodeo break is definitely a “Tucson Thing.” Many schools get the 3rd Thursday and Friday of February off for rodeo. Here are some events you can attend during the break.
Tucson Rodeo Parade:
This colorful, exciting parade is presented each year. The Parade still keeps the spirit of the first parade that happened back in 1925. February 22nd is the day this parade takes place. It still achieves its success through the community’s participation, dedication of the workers, volunteers, and the generosity of its sponsors. It features seven professional rodeo events. There is Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Tie-Down Roping, Team Roping, and Bull Riding.
Old Tucson Studios:
Old Tucson studios is where the spirit of the Old West comes to life. Bring your family and enjoy many fun activities such as gunfights, saloon musicals, living history presentations, film history tours, rides, games, and so much more. They are open from 10 am to 6 pm. Enjoy a southwest BBQ and special events throughout the season.
Museum of the Horse Soldiers:
It’s open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 am-8 pm. When you visit the museum you can explore the history of the U.S. horse soldiers and their roles in times of peace and conflict. The museum of the Horse Soldier offers a unique opportunity to explore military history through informative exhibits. It consists of more than 2,000 objects on display.
Tucson Botanical Gardens:
They are open daily from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Enjoy an experience that includes displays of rocks and minerals from the collection of Harrison Yocum. You can see them incorporated into the gardens and the exhibits, and find some for sale in the gift shops as well. Make sure to visit Butterfly Magic and view the local art in the gallery. If you get hungry from all that walking around, don’t worry there is a café.
These are just a few things to do over the break. If you don’t want to spend money or as little as possible, there are tons of parks all around Tucson to go to with your family and friends.
