For the past ten years, our devoted librarian, Mrs. Dillon, has hosted Sahuaro’s annual book exchange in the spirit of Love of Reading Week.

If you don’t know what exactly a book exchange is, it is an event set up where both students and staff can come in and bring their old books and exchange them for new ones. This is a great opportunity for any avid readers to take part in and immerse yourself in new adventures. Even if you don’t find any books that suit your taste, or simply don’t wish to participate, you can still donate your old books for someone else to enjoy or to make more space in your home.

The book exchange runs from February 12 to the 16 and students are allowed to go visit the book exchange before or after school, during conference, lunch, or if a teacher writes a pass.

In the library there will be a table set up that will hold a collection of brand new books that students can check out. Mrs. Dillon didn’t stop there though. In order to encourage more students to use the library, she has introduced “brownie points”. Brownie points are a slip you will receive during Love of Reading week, for returning books or checking them out. The slips can be redeemed for a small treat in the library and participating teachers may even award extra credit.

So if you love books, make sure you stop by the library sometime next week to take part in Love of Reading week!
