Bruno Mars Dominates The Grammys
February 1, 2018
Last Sunday night’s Grammy award ceremony was Bruno Mars’ big night. But there’s one description we might all have to agree on: historic. Sunday night, artists of all kinds gathered at at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden. Out of all of the many artists that attended, one stood out the most: Bruno Mars. With his album, 24K Magic, Mars won a total of 6 Grammys. He won Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Album, Best R&B Performance. Mars won song of the year, record of the year, and best R&B song for “That’s How I Like It”. The Hawaiian native has been killing the game since his first hit in 2010; over the years he has managed to accumulate 10 Grammys.
There’s still one factoid that might shock fans the most. Bruno’s total wins on Grammy night — six — mean he was just two awards away from tying Michael Jackson and Santana for most Grammys won in one night, ever. While Jackson won eight in 1984, following Thriller‘s takeover of pop radio, Santana tied that record in 2000 with Supernatural.
