Official statement from Simone Biles

The #MeToo movement was a huge stand towards sexual predators in 2017 that is carrying into 2018. USA Gymnasts are speaking up against against confessed pedophile, Dr. Larry Nassar.  The most recent and famous gymnast to come forward is Simone Biles, the first U.S. gymnast ever to win four Olympic gold medals.. On January 15, 2018 Biles tweeted saying that she too was assaulted by American gymnast doctor Larry Nassar. For over 20 years Larry Nassar has been molesting the girls who was supposed to be helping.

“Nassar was the team doctor for USA Gymnastics through four Olympic Games, treating young hopefuls and gold medal winners. His case illustrates the drive of the #MeToo movement to call out serial predatory behavior and the forces that enable it.” More than 150 gymnasts came forward, and many of  the girls are giving their testimonies at the trial against Nassar. In a six-page single-spaced letter, Larry Nassar complained on January 18 that it’s “too hard to listen to victim stories”.

His plea agreement allows for for all his accusers to give impact statements, and more than 100 have signed up to appear in the courtroom or, like Olympic gold-medalist McKayla Maroney, have their statements read aloud.

“Dr. Nassar was not a doctor,” Maroney’s statement, read by a prosecutor, said. “He in fact is, was, and forever shall be a child molester, and a monster of a human being.”
