Attempted Bombing In NYC Subway
December 14, 2017
On December 11, 2017, a man named Akayed Ullah, 27, attempted to suicide bomb the New York City Subway near Times Square with a homemade pipe bomb. The blast failed when he attempted to detonate it, only inflicted some hearing damage and headaches to the travelers; the only one seriously injured was the bomber, Ullah, who lives in Brooklyn and is of Bangladeshi descent. Ullah suffered severe burns from the blast, leaving him hospitalized. Before the attack, Ullah posted a message on Facebook directed to President Donald Trump, saying, “Trump, you failed to protect your nation.” The phrase “O America, die in your rage” was found written in his passport.
Recent Israeli actions in Gaza compelled Ullah to carry out the attack, a law enforcement source said. He is facing federal terrorism charges, where he could serve a life sentence.
