Prince Harry Engaged to Unconventional Bride-to-Be
November 29, 2017
The Prince has found himself a Princess, or maybe not? Well, she may not be a princess yet, but she will be married to a prince soon. Prince Harry, a grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and fifth in line to the throne, is engaged to Meghan Markle, his American actress girlfriend, now fiancée, the royal family said on Monday.
The fairy tale couple got engaged earlier this month. Although Markle has been married before, that will not pose any obstacle to a church wedding as the Church of England permits divorcees to remarry. Also unique about the future princess: she’s not only divorced, but already 36 years old, and bi-racial. They started dating in 2016 and have since planned a wedding that will be in the spring of 2018. Like Prince Harry, Markle was a child of divorce. Markle’s parents are extremely excited and have their best wishes towards Prince Harry and their daughter. Markle will become a UK citizen after they wed.
Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are expected to be known as the duke and duchess of Sussex after they are married, according to the British News Media and the New York Times, although she may be known informally as Princess Meghan. If Prince Harry decides not to take that title, he would remain Prince Henry of Wales — his official name.
