Four schools in the Amphitheater School District were recently broken into and vandalized on Oct. 28 and 29. Two schools were  severely damaged, those being Amphitheater Middle School and Prince Elementary.

The library at Amphitheater Middle School and Prince Elementary (a shared school) were the most damaged. The vandals started a fire in the library, burned books, destroyed computers, and many windows around the campus were broken as well. The damage is estimated to cost the school around 200,000 dollars.

Three students have been found and arrested, ages 12, 13, and 15. Two of the vandals attended Amphitheater Middle School and the 15 year old attended Amphitheater High School. As of now, all three have been booked in Pima County Juvenile Detention Center, and are facing charges of suspicion of burglary in the third degree, felony aggravated criminal damage, and felony arson of an occupied structure. 

Todd Jaeger, superintendent of Amphitheater School District released this statement,”It hurts all of us when these things happen. Everyone who cares about our students, our schools, and our community feels a sense of pain when someone deliberately tries to tear down what we strive every day to build.” Due to the enormous financial cost of the damages, Amphitheater School District has partnered with the Amphi Foundation to create a donation page.
