The 4-1-1 on Cougar Care Night
October 3, 2017
Have you heard about Cougar Care Night? Over the past 7 years, our Sahuaro volleyball program has put on the annual awareness night that they call, “Cougar Care Night”. This night will be held on October 16th this year. The goal of Cougar Care Night is to raise awareness and funds for different causes in the hopes to help open the eyes of the volleyball program, Sahuaro, and the community to real world concerns. In the past years we have spread awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, childhood cancer, drunk driving, and a Sahuaro student’s battle with cancer. This year we are spreading awareness of sexual assault.
Sexual assault has become an epidemic on college campuses all around the world and especially here in the United States. Sexual assault is also a major epidemic on society. According to RAINN, 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. It is important to spread awareness in high school, so when students graduate they know what to do in a situation, and those who have been sexually assaulted feel comfortable talking about their experience with others.
Come out and help spread awareness on October 16th to watch good volleyball and donate to organizations which help victims and survivors of sexual assault.
