Is The Pumpkin Spice Latte As Amazing As Everyone Thinks It Is?

Connor Fries, News Editor

The infamous pumpkin spice latte is making its way back into everyone’s hearts this fall, with coffee-lovers flocking to Starbucks to get their hands on one. I, for one, have never had a pumpkin spice latte in my life, but I decided to finally give in and try it. I had really high expectations going into this; I expected it to descend from the Starbucks heavens and shoot rainbows, but it did none of these things sadly.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t nearly as sweet and sugary as I had expected. The first taste was sweet and had a strong pumpkin flavor, but it slowly transformed into bitter coffee. For five dollars however, I didn’t really expect it to taste like plain coffee with creamer in it. I have to say though, when it was delivered to me, it was picture perfect and smelled amazing, but it didn’t live up to my expectations in any other way.

After finally giving in and getting a pumpkin spice latte, I have to say, it’s really not as cracked up as it seems to be, but I don’t hate it. I don’t think I will ever understand the craze for the PSL, but I do feel somewhat accomplished for finally trying to understand why it’s so amazing.
