Huge Earthquake Breaks Out in Mexico

Laura Mejia, Sports Editor

A massive earthquake with a magnitude of 8.1 hit Mexico last Thursday late in the night. The earthquake broke out near Oaxaca and Chiapas, which are two of the poorest areas of Mexico. It killed dozens of people, with nearly half the population feeling its tremors. About 1.25 million homes lost electricity and some lacked water service. Homes were completely destroyed leaving many homeless.  There was also a tsunami that took place shortly after the quake with one wave coming in at 3 feet. Mexico, in the past couple of days has been through hell and back, but they are working so hard to get things up and running again.
