Earlier this month trump tweeted: “Hopefully Kim Jung Un will find another path!!” Recently, North Korea has threatened to attack the U.S. territory of Guam, but has since backed down. All sides are flexing their muscles: the U.S. recently launched the B-1B bombers, and China conducted their own war games off of the Korean Peninsula earlier this week. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said, “China hopes that all parties will be cautious in their words and actions, and do things that help alleviate tensions and enhance mutual trust, rather walk on the old pathway of taking turns in shows of strength, and upgrading the tensions”.

It remains unknown if North Korea  has the capability to actually launch a missile that could re-enter the atmosphere without breaking. Recently Trump said, “This man will not get away with what he is doing, believe me. And if he utters one threat, in the form of an overt threat – which, by the way he has been uttering for years, and his family has been uttering for years – or if he does anything with respect to Guam, or any place else that’s an American territory or an American ally, he will truly regret it and he will regret it fast.”

The UN Security Council unanimously voted to tighten sanctions on North Korea for its tests last month of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of reaching the U.S.
