Penn State Hazing Led to Student Death

Laura Mejia, Reporter

Back in February of this year, Timothy Piazza died of traumatic brain injuries. He passed away two days after he tumbled down the stairs at a frat party. Highly intoxicated, his fellow frat brothers just left him there for hours without calling for help. They called for the ambulance at 10 in the morning the following day but it was too late. Timothy’s father Jim Piazza spoke out saying, “They fed him lethal doses of alcohol and they killed him, and then treated him like a rag doll, like road kill, they slapped him around, threw water on him, one kid punched him.” His parents are enraged with the actions of the fraternity. His fellow Beta Theta Pi brothers are on trial for involuntary manslaughter and now tampering with evidence. A video from the night of the accident was deleted. Eight of the eighteen frat brothers are faced with the more severe charges which would be ten to twenty years in prison. No one has been sentenced yet,  the trial is on going.
