San Diego Pool Shooting

Peter Selis, 49, opened fire at a pool party in a San Diego apartment complex last Sunday. A video showed Peter,  who was “despondent” and “distraught” over his breakup with an ex-girlfriend, sitting on one of the pool’s reclined chairs where he took out a phone and called his ex, told her had shot two people and that police had just arrived. Selis wanted her to keep listening to him shooting. Four black women, two black men and a Latino man were struck by the gunfire, police said. One died. Another person suffered an injury from trying to run away from the incident. Police soon arrived after receiving several reports of a shooting, and one of their helicopters reported seeing a man, reloading a gun. Three ground officers eventually confronted him and fired when Selis shot at one of the officers. Although all victims were not white and the shooter was white, police say this had nothing to do with racism. “There is zero information to indicate that race played a factor in this terrible and horrific crime,” said Chief Zimmerman. Selis had broken up with his girlfriend a few days before the incident.
