Man Swallowed by 23-Foot Python

An Indonesian man named Akbar Salubiro had been missing for about 24 hours, ever since he left to harvest palm oil at his family’s plantation farm. Police were conducting a search for the 25-year old farmer when them came across a 23-foot long python lying motionless in a ditch nearby the plantation lands. They decided to cut open the belly of the python, and Akbar’s body was found inside. Python attacks on humans are extremely rare. They squeeze their victims so tightly, it completely cuts their blood flow.
“When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake,” said Salubrio Junaidi village secretary. “Resident[s] cut open the belly of the snake and Akbar was lifeless [inside].”
Pythons can grow over 32 feet, and they are the longest snakes in the world. A python killing a human is extremely rare, because they usually keep their distance from humans. But it has been reported that pythons have eaten extremely large animals, like crocodiles and hyenas. A python in Florida once tried to eat a crocodile whole and the snake ended up busting open.
