After being President Trump’s national security adviser for 24 days, Michael Flynn resigned after giving “incomplete information” to the President, Vice President, and others over phone calls with the ambassador of Russia towards the end of December. In his resignation letter, he says he had many phone calls with the Russian officials during the transition from Obama to Trump. This was all a big deal because the Justice Department feared that Michael Flynn could be possibly blackmailed by Moscow. Since all the calls were confirmed to have happened, Michael Flynn voluntarily resigned on February 13th and the White House replaced him with acting national security adviser, Lieutenant General Joseph K. Kellogg Jr. On February 20th, Donald Trump chose Lieutenant General H.R McMaster to be the national security adviser. H.R McMaster is a highly respected military strategist known for challenging standard thinking and turning around the Iraq War in its hardest times. H.R McMaster is a veteran of both the Persian Gulf War and the second Iraq War and is widely regarded as one of the military’s most independent thinkers.
