Hints: she’s super out-spoken, lived in Alaska, can almost always be found with Mr. Hislope by her side, has twins, and her classroom is super random with plenty to look at – especially her as a mermaid. You’ve probably already guessed – Sahuaro High School’s very own Ms. Krause! She has been teaching at Sahuaro since 2001. She currently teaches AP Literature and English 11. Ms. Krause is known to be a very kind-hearted teacher who is easy to talk to.

Q & A WITH MS. KRAUSE

Q: What were you like in high school?

A:  I was one of those students who could not wait to get out. I graduated a semester early.

Q: Did you play any sports in high school?

A: Yes. Basketball and Softball

Q: What is your earliest memory?

A: When I was 3 years old, I got bit in the face by a dog. My earliest memory is running across my neighbor’s yard crying, with blood running down my face.

Q: How lucky are you and why?

A: I am the luckiest person alive. I have people who love me, I’m healthy, I like my job, I like the people I spend my time with, what more do I need?

Q: What is the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

A: Lion, alligator, snake, frogs’ legs, rabbit…

Q: Have you always aspired to be a teacher?

A: No. I originally wanted to be a veterinarian, a zoologist, or a newspaper columnist.

Q: What was your first job?

A: Burger King

Q: What was your most memorable high school experience?

A: My whole experience of being an athlete on a team.

Q: What’s the best vacation you’ve EVER taken?

A: When I did the Camino De Santiago pilgrimage in Spain.

Q: Describe your own outlook on life in six words.

A: Always look on the bright side.

Q: If you could give your high school self advice what would it be?

A: Your power ends, exactly where your fear begins.

Having Ms. Krause in my final year of high school has been one of my greatest opportunities. I’m only upset that I did not have her any sooner. She is one of the few teachers who show that they actually care, have energy, and the optimism needed to teach in a manner so students are as excited as she is for the class.
