On Saturday, February 4th, one the most anticipated match-ups in College Basketball  was set to take place in Matthew Knight Arena, in Eugene, Oregon. The Arizona Wildcats, 21-2 coming into Saturdays game, are widely regarded as one of the best teams in the nation, especially with their recent victory over powerhouse UCLA in the previous weeks. Meanwhile, The Oregon Ducks, 20-3 before Saturday’s game, had just suffered an ugly loss to Colorado and barely clung on to win against Arizona State earlier in the week.

The game turned ugly very quickly, with Arizona being stuck at 11 points for a heart-wrenching 9 minutes while the Oregon lead continued to grow. Oregon absolutely shot the lights out in the first half, shooting 10-14 from three point range and extending the lead at halftime to 38-11.

The second half was more of the same story. The Wildcats, highly respected for their defensive prowess, simply had no answer for Oregon’s Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey, who combined for 41 points. Meanwhile, on the offensive end, Arizona struggled to get any kind of momentum going, and the scoreboard reflected this. When the final whistle blew, the final score was 85-58 in favor of the Oregon Ducks.

Arizona will hope to bounce back with a game against the mediocre Stanford Cardinal on February 8th. Meanwhile, Oregon will hope to carry over some of that energy into their next game with the UCLA Bruins on February 9th.
