Guide to Navigating 2017 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show

Tucson Gem and Mineral Show – The Tucson Experience

Autumn Fatovich, News Editor

Every year since 1955, the Tucson Gem and Mineral show has been an attraction enjoyed by not only the locals but from people afar. Vendors come from all around the world to sell fossils, minerals, crystals, beads, jewelry, and so much more.  People of all ages gather around and enjoy their love of rocks and minerals.

The Tucson Gem and Mineral show is not located in one place! Different locations are set up around the downtown area. This year, for the first time, to help people navigate, there is a mobile app called Tucson Gem Show, which is available in the iTunes store and Google Play Store. This app will tell visitors the different shows and vendors that are in Tucson. There is a news category that gives information on what is happening at certain booths, like sales. There are shuttle routes, images, and admission requirements on the website as well. Under the show tab all of the locations are listed and will give you the date in which they are running until.

The kiddos will have fun with seminars held at various locations and junior education centers at some locations. There are different food trucks at each location including bbq, pizza, hot dogs, and more!

This year will be the 11th annual Gem and Jam Festival. It will be held at the Pima Country Fair Grounds on February 2nd through the 5th. This four day festival includes a full line up, each day of different electronic music, visual performers, live artists, arts and crafts along with workshops and lectures, food vendors and high-end art galleries. Tickets, camping grounds, and more information can be found at http://gemandjamfestival.com/
