There has been so much controversy about the Dakota Access Pipeline that runs through the Indian reservation at Standing Rock. These protesters call themselves the “water protectors,” due to the pipeline possibly making their water resources hazardous. Millions of people have protested, some since the day that it was announced. Protesters camped outside the reservations, even in blizzard conditions, until they felt they had won their battle and it was settled in November of 2016 that the U.S. would re-route the pipeline. They could now be calm and step away from all the fighting that had gone on between the protesters and authorities…at least, that’s what they were made to believe up until President Donald Trump’s fourth day in office.

“Today, President Trump ignored the voices of millions and put the short-term profits of the fossil fuel industry ahead of the future of our planet,” says Bernie Sanders. Trump shocked the public in a surprise announcement that they would continue on with the original route, going over and unraveling former President Obama’s block on that route. A whole new protest wave is now expected to expand.
