On Saturday, January 21, 2017 millions of women came together and united to protect women’s rights and stand for equality. Women and even men marched up the streets of Washington D.C., Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Miami, California, St. Louis, Austin, Atlanta, Phoenix, Denver, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Tucson and so many more places. Every march had an outstanding turnout with way more advocates than what was expected.

The march took place to not only fight for equality for women, but also as a way to protest against Donald Trump being president, and for Planned Parenthood, climate change, LGBTQ, Black Lives Matter, immigrant rights, racism, literally anything and everything wrong in this country right now was voiced out by the marchers. Many guest speakers like Madonna, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus gave their opinions on how they feel as well. Now we all know Donald Trump isn’t one to care what others think, his response to the march (which more people attended than his inauguration) was a simple tweet that read, “Watched protest yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election! Why didn’t these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly.” He also tweeted,”Peaceful protests are a hallmark of our democracy. Even if I don’t always agree, I recognize the rights of people to express their views.” Which is right, we all have the right to protest and everyone should take advantage of that as long as the protests are peaceful and not destructive.
