As we enter the last few weeks of school, students may be thinking of a fun and harmless senior prank to play on teachers and staff. While it’s okay to have fun, it’s important to make sure any prank is respectful, safe, and leaves everyone with a good laugh.
Some of the most popular pranks include the classic balloon invasion, which is a prank where students fill the hallways, the principal’s office, classrooms, restrooms, or the cafeteria with balloons. The cleanup may be difficult, but this prank is totally worth it.

Another fun prank is a Nerf gun war. Talk to your senior peers about having a Nerf gun battle in a designated area like the football field or the courtyard. As long as you’re staying safe and friendly, this is a super entertaining and memorable prank.
The “parking spot chaos” prank is another good idea, where seniors intentionally park as wonky as possible. Whether it’s slightly crooked, too close to each other, or taking up multiple spots, it’s another lighthearted and legal way to make everyone smile.
While many pranks are all just for fun, not all of them go according to plan. Sometimes, it can start as a harmless joke, and then someone will end up taking it too far. An example of a prank that went too far was from a school in Maryland. A group of seniors broke into their school late at night to release 72,000 ladybugs. This triggered the alarm system, causing police to show up. The students were then forced to clean the bugs, and then they were charged with fourth-degree burglary and disruption of school activities.

At Spring Hill High in Tennessee, a few students got together to play an “innocent” prank and ended up vandalizing the school and being punished for it. Instead of spending the last day of school with friends and enjoying their day, they were forced to stay home. The school principal shared her side of the story, stating that, “There was spray paint. The desks were flipped over, textbooks with pages ripped out, which is a lot of money. There was Sun Drop sprayed all over the floor, which everyone thought was pee. It wasn’t. We found out it was Sun Drop, which is a little better.”
At Louisiana High School, seniors played a prank by trashing their school and will now be facing serious consequences. This is another example of a prank that was meant to be harmless but completely crossed a line.
Senior pranks are meant to bring smiles to people’s faces and create long-lasting memories. Just remember – one bad decision can ruin the fun for everyone, so don’t be the person to take things too far.
