FingerBoarding is a miniature version of skateboarding where you use your fingers to do tricks and maneuvers. I’ve been fingerboarding for about 7 years and this is my input on fingerboards because I enjoy it and would like to share my opinion. There are many types of fingerboards, but you’re probably most familiar with Tech Decks, which were popular in the 1990s. Tech Decks are a fan favorite – everyone knows about them.
FingerBoarding (FB) is just like skateboarding! You can ollie, kickflip, grind on and off anything you put your mind to. They even have mini skate parks for your fingers, bowels half-pipes, kicker ramps, rails, and stair-cases. Once you’ve been FB for a while, you will want something more professional like a professional fingerboard (often referred to as ”Pro-FB”).
If you enjoy the hobby you will 100% notice the difference between a Tech Deck and a Pro-FB. However, shopping for a real Pro-FB will cost as much as a real skateboard. Stores like Blackriver, Flat-Face & Berlinwood have high-quality fingerboard products.
You can always go to fingerboard meet-ups if you’re lost and don’t know what to get from these places. Anyone who can FB, good or bad, can meet with others to try out other people’s fingerboards and learn from other aficionados to see what different fingerboards you enjoy and are more countable so you can make the right decision when buying one from a website or shop.
Wherever you have a flat surface you can fingerboard. Usually, I do it in school or while waiting for food. It’s fun when you see a little spot to skate for your fingers; having this hobby is enjoyable. You also look as cool as you think when fingerboarding. Just remember to have fun and be patient because like with anything, it takes time to learn. There’s a strong community with FB’s so if you are struggling, look at videos or ask a friend!
