Ms. Good, who we know as the cool English teacher in the 200 hallway, says, “I teach to make a difference in the lives of my students, hopefully making the world a better place.” I would describe her as having a very chill classroom environment. During class, she usually plays instrumental music during independent work. Her classroom consists of various quotes from different historical figures as well as a lot of student art. She says her style is “…cozy, chill, and comfortable.”
Ms. Good was raised by her mom, whom she still is very close with today. She was born in Virginia, but soon after her family moved to New York, where they lived until she was in 7th grade when she moved to Tucson – to remain here until she finished high school at Presidio. She also worked as a veterinary tech at the time. After high school, she moved to Portland in hopes of change. During her time in Oregon, her younger sister unfortunately passed away in 2013 at 16 in a car accident, bringing her back here to Tucson. She then decided to stay down here and attend the University of Arizona for philosophy and psychology. While attending the U of A, she worked at a cafe downtown as a barista.
After a challenging start to life, things started to fall into place for Ms. Good. She met her husband online, a year after her sister’s passing, while he was here visiting from England. They met in person, fell in love, and were married two years later in San Francisco. Soon after their marriage, they started preparing for their first and only child, Charlotte, whom Ms. Good describes as, “the sweetest person ever.” Charlotte is a 6-year-old self-chosen vegetarian.
In 2018, Ms. Good decided to return to the University of Arizona to get her master’s degree in education. This brought her to Sahuaro as Mrs. Watters’ student teacher. “Ms. Good was an amazing student teacher! She immediately had a great rapport with students and always made her lessons relevant and engaging,” said Mrs. Watters. Then, Ms. Good made the decision to stay on as a teacher at Sahuaro because, “…I loved the vibe of the campus, teachers and kids.” She has been a teacher here at Sahuaro since 2019 and has been involved with various clubs and projects around the school including Unified in Color, Black Student Union, and many different field trips. Overall, Ms. Good has made a wonderful contribution to the Sahuaro team. She always has a smile on her face and is someone everyone knows they can talk to.
