Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 Being Split in 2
February 1, 2023
Attack on Titan is an Anime series that started in September of 2013 and was being animated by WIT STUDIO. During the development of Season 3, it was said by a producer that they wanted to pass the torch to a different studio since they believed it would be difficult for them to continue making it. The studio that was given the responsibility of finishing the series was MAPPA. Studio MAPPA is a Japanese animation studio which has worked on many popular anime such as Yuri!!!, on Ice, Jujutsu Kaisen, and most recently Chainsaw Man. When people heard that Attack on Titan’s final season would be adapted by MAPPA, people were excited but skeptical. They didn’t know whether or not MAPPA would be able to meet the high bar that was set by WIT STUDIO. Thankfully they were able to do that and more. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Parts 1 and 2 were both animated beautifully and people are excited for part 3.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are growing impatient. On January 17 2023, a trailer for part 3 was released and it looked amazing, it definitely got people excited. A little bit after the trailer was released MAPPA made a statement saying that they wanted to broadcast the full season on March 3 but the amount of work increased significantly more than expected. Along with this they said that they will release what is finished starting March 3 and will release the rest of the season later in 2023. Many people are angry that they aren’t releasing it all at once. Some believe that MAPPA is just trying to get more money out of the series by splitting it up. I personally don’t agree with that.
From what I’ve heard, the last 9 chapters are the most complicated out of the entire series. With Attack on Titan being one of my favorite animes, I would much rather it be delayed and have the finished product be the best it can be as opposed to it get put out sooner and letting the quality suffer as a result.
