The Curse of Bridge Hollow is a new Halloween-based Netflix original that caught my attention the second Netflix started advertising for it. The front cover that you see on Netflix is a middle school-aged girl in a witch costume looking concerned, with her dad next to her holding her broom, looking like he is about to cry out of fear. This made me more intrigued because it looks hilarious. Children’s movies are always fun to watch even as you get older, so it being rated TV-14 made me want to watch it more.

The Curse of Bridge Hollow came out on October 14th, 2o22, and is currently #8 in movies today on Netflix. The summary is, “In this supernatural comedy, a father and daughter try to save their town when Halloween decorations come to life.” The main characters in this movie are Sydney Gordon played by Priah Ferguson, Howard Gordon played by Marlon Wayans, and Emily Gordon played by Kelly Rowland.

In the beginning, the family is newly arriving in town and moving into their new home in Bridge Hollow, coming from Brooklyn, New York. Instantly they are shocked by all of the decorations in every house’s front yard. This family isn’t too big on Halloween, but they decide to look past it. Later, they meet the mayor and she tells them the story about “Stingy Jack” and the curse that involves him. Sydney then goes home and eventually finds a Jack O Lantern in the basement that releases Stingy Jack’s spirit to all of the Halloween decorations in the neighborhood. For the rest of the movie, they are trying to find a way to get rid of his spirit for good.

Unfortunately, I would only rate this movie a 6/10 because I liked the storyline, but I believe that I would enjoy watching it a lot more if I was younger. But because I am 17, and I am already a critic when it comes to shows and movies, it was predictable and a little bit boring. Overall, I would not recommend this movie if you are like me and can predict what happens easily or don’t enjoy basic storylines, but if you have any younger siblings, I think they would enjoy watching this movie a lot.
