2018 was filled with a lot of different types of music. Music that either made you happy, sad, hyped, chill, and make you feel amazing. Here is the top 10 songs of this year.
1.) Thank You, Next by Ariana Grande
The song Thank You, Next was inspired by the men she dated in the past and learned love, patience, and pain from. Especially self-love and empowerment.
2.) I Like It Like That by Cardi B Feat. Bad Bunny & J Balvin
Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin were inspired by a famous song named, I Like It Like That by Pete Rodriguez in 1967. Cardi B brought out her inner Latina and we also hear Bad Bunny rapping in English.
3.) God’s Plan by Drake
Drake released the music video for God’s Plan on February. In the video it showed Drake giving away almost one million dollars ($996,631.90) to people who are in need: schools, students, kids, the fire department and bonding with families and fans by surprising them with gifts.
4.) Girls Like You by Maroon 5 Feat. Cardi B
This song promotes feminism and how girls are supposed to feel great about themselves, strong, confident, and independent. The music video for Girls Like You has famous female social media influencers who made a big impact on social media for female power like Ellen Degeneres and Jennifer Lopez.

The song, In My Feeling became viral by a Instagram comedian named Shiggy who posted a video of him dancing to In My Feelings. It quickly became known as the #InMyFeelingsChallenge where people would stop their cars and dance to the famous part of the song, “kiki do you love me?”

The music video for Freaky Friday is a spin-off of the iconic movie Freaky Friday that was released in 2003, where Lil Dicky and Chris Brown switch bodies and got to see the other person’s life in their shoes.

Dua Lipa sings about her trying to get over her past relationship by setting rules for herself. According to SongFacts, Dua Lipa said in a interview, “It’s about keeping your distance from someone who’s bad for you. I’m setting some rules down so [that I] won’t go back to that person.”

The “slow moving trap song beat” talks about their wealthy lifestyles and trust issues they had with people in the past. Post Malone raps about how people only want to be his friend just because he is rich and the fame. Also about him not knowing who are his real friends.

The rapper who goes by the nickname X died a few months backs. His song, SAD! talks about many issues that he went through and wanted to talk about.

Ariana Grande talks about how she doesn’t want to be upset anymore and how she is trying to be happy again by pickin’ herself up. Ariana Grande was dating famous rapper, Mac Miller when the song came out. People went to social media sharing their thoughts on her song, thinking it might be about Miller.
