The Truth Behind the Gold Star Trump Call
October 26, 2017
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon for people to point fingers and blame Trump for something, or take something he said out of context. Can we blame ourselves though? He posts on Twitter so often that sometimes it’s hard to ignore him. After his recent incident with a soldier’s widow, everyone has an opinion about Trump, even though not everyone knew the whole story.
In case you didn’t hear about it, Trump was recently put under fire when Congresswoman, Frederica Wilson, listened in our a private condolence call between Trump and a mournful widow after her husband was recently killed in Niger. Wilson lied about what was said during the phone call in order to make Trump look bad and people ate it up, calling him uncaring and ignorant.
Chief of Staff General John Kelly however, revealed that the phone call had been taken out of context by Wilson when she painted Trump to be unfeeling insensitive. While Wilson made it seem as if Trump was saying that her son knew what he was getting in to, Kelly explained that Trump actually said that “he was doing exactly what he wanted to do when he was killed,” and that “when he died, he was surrounded by the best men on this Earth. His friends.” Not quite what the media was telling everyone.
“I was stunned when I came to work yesterday morning and [was] broken-hearted when I saw what a member of Congress was doing,” Kelly explained. He thought that that fact she was listening to a private phone call alone was disgusting, but the fact that she used a brave soldier’s death to bad-mouth was repulsive.
Now regardless of your opinion on Trump, I think that we can all agree that fake news isn’t good for the country and can make the best of people look bad, and vise versa. So, to avoid from becoming trapped in the webs of fake news, always be sure to check your sources and don’t believe everything you read on the internet.
