At least 84 people, including 27 children were killed on Tuesday in the town of Khan Sheikhoun. Evidence has mounted that the victims were killed with a nerve agent such as Sarin. Another 546 people were injured, many of whom remain in a serious condition. Many of the victims were choking, gasping for air, and even foaming at the mouth. Witnesses say that at one point, at least 10 or so bodies were lined up, all of which were children.

Both the US and the UK blame Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the brutal attack that happened before 7:00am on Tuesday morning. He denied Syria had dropped chemical weapons from the air, despite facing widespread skepticism. The Russian military confirmed on Wednesday that the Syrian air force had launched air strikes in the Khan Sheikhoun area but said they had hit a rebel depot full of chemical munitions.

President Donald Trump said, “It crossed a lot of lines for me. When you kill innocent children, innocent babies … with a chemical gas that is so lethal that people were shocked to hear what gas it was, that crosses many, many lines — beyond a red line.” He says that the attack has significantly changed his views of Syria and Assad.
